Submarket of the logistics region Danube

Straubing / Deggendorf / Plattling

Between Straubing and Deggendorf two trimodal Danube ports lie on the A3, while Plattling links the area via the A92 with Dingolfing, Landshut and Munich. Agricultural trade, the bioeconomy, metals and heavy cargo shape a submarket with large industrial sites and access to Austria.

Location and access

The A3 links Straubing and Deggendorf with Regensburg, Passau and Linz, and the A92 from Munich meets the A3 at the Deggendorf interchange. The B20 connects the Port of Straubing-Sand with the A3 and A92. The Danube has been upgraded between Straubing and Deggendorf, and works on the section to Vilshofen begin in 2026. Plattling is a rail junction for lines to Regensburg, Passau and Landshut, and Austria is less than an hour from Deggendorf.

Space profile

The Straubing-Sand industrial park with its Danube port covers around 220 hectares with rail sidings, the BioCampus and an intermodal terminal opened in 2025, and a heavy-lift terminal has been announced. The Port of Deggendorf with its freight village handles metals, agricultural goods and heavy cargo. Plattling and the A92 corridor offer buildings for suppliers and distribution.

What occupiers should consider

The submarket offers large, contiguous industrial sites and is particularly suited to heavy cargo, bulk and port logistics. For pure distribution, proximity to target markets and labour supply should be checked. Suppliers to the plants on the A92 find Plattling an alternative to Dingolfing and Landshut.
