Submarket of the logistics region Danube

Regensburg

Regensburg is the centre of the Danube logistics region. A trimodal port, a freight village and an intermodal terminal in the east of the city meet a large car plant, electronics and engineering, while the neighbouring municipalities of Neutraubling, Obertraubling and Barbing offer additional business space on the A3.

Location and access

At the Regensburg interchange the A3 between Nuremberg and Passau meets the A93 towards Munich and Hof. The A3 has six lanes between the interchange and the Rosenhof junction, and the interchange itself is being rebuilt until around 2031. The bayernhafen with its east and west ports and the Regensburg-Ost intermodal terminal link the Danube, rail and road, and Nuremberg and Munich Airport are about an hour away.

Space profile

The port and the east of the city have handling, storage and forwarding space, while the south-east around Burgweinting and Harting hosts suppliers and production around the car plant. Neutraubling, Obertraubling and Barbing offer business parks and mid-sized distribution space directly on the A3, and Regenstauf on the A93 to the north adds to supply.

What occupiers should consider

Space in the city is scarce, and encroaching housing partly restricts operations in the port. Occupiers planning shift work or heavy truck traffic should look at the neighbouring municipalities. For suppliers, cycle times and proximity to the plant matter, and the works at the Regensburg interchange should be factored into route planning.
