Submarket of the logistics region Saarland

Saarlouis / Dillingen

Saarlouis and Dillingen are the industrial centre of western Saarland. The automotive industry, steel and the port on the Saar shape a submarket linked directly to Luxembourg via the A8 and to Saarbrücken via the A620.

Location and access

At the Saarlouis interchange the A620 from Saarbrücken meets the A8, which runs to Luxembourg and via Neunkirchen to Zweibrücken. The Port of Saarlouis/Dillingen handles bulk and general cargo on the Saar with connections to the Moselle and the Rhine. The French border near Überherrn is a few kilometres away, and Luxembourg is about an hour's drive.

Space profile

The submarket features large automotive and steel industry sites, production-related warehouses and supplier locations. Lisdorfer Berg is one of Saarland's largest industrial estates, and the former power station site in Ensdorf is being marketed for new uses.

What occupiers should consider

Vehicle production at the car plant in Saarlouis ended in late 2025, and the site is now used partly for component manufacturing and for a new pharmaceutical plant. This changes demand in the area and may free up existing space. For traffic to Luxembourg and France, proximity to the A8 and the B269 matters.
