Submarket of the logistics region Ruhr

Duisburg / logport

With duisport, Duisburg is Europe's largest inland port and the most important terminus for freight trains from China. Since the late 1990s, trimodal logistics sites with several thousand jobs have been developed on the logport sites.

Location and access

Duisburg combines the Rhine, rail and motorway like few other locations. The logport sites lie on the Rhine or at rail terminals and connect to the A40, A42, A57 and A59. Regular trains run from here to China, the seaports and across Europe.

Space profile

Across around 400 hectares of logport land and further port and industrial sites there are modern logistics buildings, container yards and production land. Part of the land is allocated by the port itself, often on ground leases.

What occupiers should consider

Anyone planning trimodal operations should clarify early which terminal fits their traffic. Many sites are former industrial land, so ground conditions and contamination matter. For China traffic, Duisburg offers unique infrastructure.
