Uses and logistics models

Parcel and express logistics (CEP)

Courier, express and parcel services with sorting and transhipment hubs.

Parcel hubs are designed for fast throughput: many doors, large yards and parking, sorting systems and round-the-clock operation. Space for vans is often more important than for articulated trucks.

Network levels

Parcel networks consist of large hubs for line haul, regional depots and delivery bases near cities. Hubs sort large volumes overnight with high-performance sorters, depots distribute to delivery vehicles. Each level has its own requirements for space, yard and location.

Yard areas

At delivery bases, van parking, charging infrastructure and staff parking are often more important than the building area. The ratio of land to building is considerably higher than in conventional warehousing, which makes finding sites more difficult.
