Loading and yard
Level access door
A door at yard level through which vehicles can drive into the hall.
Level access doors serve vans, forklift traffic in and out of the hall and bulky goods. A balanced ratio of dock doors to level access doors improves re-lettability.
Uses
Level access doors are used for vans, forklifts, containers on chassis, long goods and machinery deliveries. In production and light industrial they are often the main access. For the fire brigade they sometimes serve as access to the interior.
Design
Sectional doors 4 to 5 m high are common. A ramp or fall in front prevents rainwater from running into the building. For high frequency, high-speed doors also limit heat loss.
