Loading and yard
Dock shelter
A curtain or cushion system closing the gap between vehicle and wall.
Dock shelters protect against weather, draughts and heat loss during loading. In temperature-controlled warehouses they are essential, because every gap costs energy and product quality.
Types
Curtain shelters enclose the vehicle with side and head curtains. Cushion seals press against the body and seal particularly well, but suit fewer vehicle shapes. Inflatable systems combine both advantages and are common in cold stores.
Energy and product quality
In temperature-controlled warehouses, dock shelters, high-speed doors and lock zones determine energy consumption and condensation. An open gap during loading can bring moisture and heat into the cold zone and cause ice on doors and floors.
