Building Energy Act (GEG)

German federal law setting energy efficiency and heating requirements for buildings.

The GEG sets minimum energy standards for new buildings and refurbishments, requirements for renewable energy in heating and obligations for energy performance certificates. For warehouses, heated areas, offices and the replacement of heating systems are particularly relevant. Additional solar obligations partly arise from state law.
