Fire load
The energy of all combustible materials in an area, relative to floor area.
Fire load results from the quantity and calorific value of stored goods, packaging and fittings and is stated in kWh/m² or MJ/m². It is used in calculation methods under DIN 18230 and in sprinkler design. Plastics and aerosols increase fire load considerably compared with paper and metal.
