Submarket of the logistics region Cologne

Cologne Niehl / Eifeltor

Cologne is one of the most important logistics hubs in western Germany. The ports of Niehl and Godorf on the Rhine, the Eifeltor combined transport terminal and the Cologne motorway ring link the city with the seaports, the Ruhr and the south.

Location and access

Niehl lies in the north of Cologne on the Rhine with access to the A1, Eifeltor in the south-west at the Köln-Süd interchange, Godorf in the south between the Rhine and the A555. The motorway ring of the A1, A3 and A4 distributes traffic in every direction, and Cologne/Bonn Airport is an important express and cargo hub.

Space profile

Around the ports, industry, car manufacturing and chemicals dominate. Logistics buildings are often older and in high demand. New space mainly emerges through redevelopment and on former industrial land in the surrounding area.

What occupiers should consider

In the city, buildings are scarce and marketing periods short. Port land has its own allocation rules. Flexible occupiers should also consider Frechen, Hürth, Kerpen and the Rhein-Erft district.
