- Very narrow aisle storage
Uses and logistics models
Very narrow aisle storage
Racking with very narrow aisles served by guided trucks.
Narrow aisles increase storage capacity on the same footprint. They require a very flat floor, guide rails or wire guidance and suitable fire protection design.
Systems
Very narrow aisle trucks are guided mechanically by rails or inductively by wires in the floor. Aisles are only slightly wider than the trucks, which fits more racking rows into the same area. Racking is often taller than in wide-aisle warehouses.
Prerequisites
A floor with high flatness, sufficient point loads, personnel protection systems in the aisles and a matching sprinkler design are required. Switching from wide to very narrow aisles usually requires new racking and often floor works.
