Fire safety and security
Quarantine area
A separated zone for damaged or suspicious goods, especially batteries.
Damaged batteries are isolated until disposal, often outdoors in containers or in dedicated fire compartments with retention. This keeps the main warehouse protected.
Design
Proven options are fire-resistant containers or concrete modules outdoors at a distance from the facade, or a small, highly fire-resistant room with direct venting to the outside. Sealed floors, containment, gas detection and easy access for the fire brigade are important.
Process
Goods of unknown condition remain in the secured area until inspected. The route from goods-in should be short and not pass through the main warehouse. The concept should be agreed with the property insurer and documented.
