Fire alarm system

A system that detects fires automatically and alerts the fire brigade.

The fire alarm system links detectors, sprinklers and controls such as doors or exhaust vents and is often connected directly to the fire brigade. False alarms incur fees, so it must be adapted to the use.

Components

A fire alarm system consists of a control panel, automatic detectors, manual call points and a transmission unit to the fire brigade. It controls fire functions such as closing fire doors, shutting down ventilation and triggering alarm devices. Planning and operation follow DIN 14675 and DIN VDE 0833.

Operation

Every false alarm incurs costs for the fire brigade call-out. Dust, forklift exhaust or steam can trigger detectors if type and position do not suit the use. When the occupier or layout changes, detector positions and fire brigade route cards must be updated.
