Site security and access control
Structural and technical protection of site and building.
This covers fencing, barriers, gatehouses, CCTV, access systems and intruder alarms. High-value goods, pharma or defence often come with their own requirements from insurers and clients.
Layers of protection
Site security is planned in layers: the boundary with fences and gates, access control with barrier and gatehouse, a building envelope with burglary resistance, and internal zones with access control and CCTV. Insurers and clients often define minimum standards, for example under VdS guidelines or classified information rules.
Planning
Security and operations must fit together. A gatehouse with waiting area, separate routes for staff and vehicles and clear visitor guidance avoid bottlenecks. CCTV must be documented under data protection law and agreed with staff and, where applicable, the works council.
