Uses and logistics models
Overhead crane
A runway for a bridge or gantry crane within the hall.
Crane rails allow heavy loads to be lifted in production and storage. They must be included in the building's structural design and reduce clear height beneath.
Types
Overhead travelling cranes run on crane girders along the columns, gantry cranes on floor-mounted rails and suspension cranes from the roof structure. Capacities range from a few tonnes to very heavy loads in machinery and steel construction.
Inspection and valuation
Crane installations must be inspected periodically by experts. For buyers and tenants, capacity, span, hook height, logbook and the condition of the crane rail are decisive. An existing crane adds value for production but is usually of little use for logistics.
